Charlestown is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Boston. Located on the north side of the Charles River, it is full of charming architecture with a heavy influence from many of the Irish who originally migrated here. In the 1980’s it had become a destination for those who wanted to live near downtown Boston in a neighborhood rich with a colonial feel.
Today Charlestown continues to be among the top of the list for those who want an urban location close to downtown. One can still find a plethora of quaint apartments, condos and the occasional historic single family. Points of interest in Charlestown include The Navy Yard, home to the USS Constitution or “Old Ironsides,”the Bunker Hill Monument which is at the end of the famous Freedom Trail along and Bunker Hill Community College. Charlestown is also notable as the starting point of Paul Revere’s “midnight ride” before the battles of Lexington and Concord.
